01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Hanging out its curtain only on Saturdays and Sundays for lunch and dinner, CAFE HAMBONE prepares thoughtful ramen within a calm, bar-like setting. Tucked into a quiet neighbourhood street, the space is unpretentious and easygoing, welcoming whether you are dropping in for a hearty bowl of noodles or settling down with a drink.

Chicken-Rich Shoyu Ramen and Hearty Sides

The cornerstone of the menu is the shoyu ramen, featuring a deeply coloured soup enriched with the mellow savour of chicken and a smooth finish free of harsh saltiness. Tender chashu and generous strips of seasoned bamboo shoots rest atop supple curly noodles, keeping each mouthful engaging to the last drop. For a more substantial meal, ordering the set with a mini chashu rice bowl is the customary pairing. The noodle selection also includes a clear, clean shio ramen, a richer miso ramen, and a chashu-men served in a light shirodashi broth, offering varied choices on each visit.

Pairing Fine Spirits with a Ramen Finish

Another distinguishing feature is the extensive lineup of Western spirits lining the back bar. Alongside beers such as Sapporo Lager Akaboshi and Hoegaarden, the shelves hold Scotch whiskies like Laphroaig and Ardbeg, as well as Japanese labels including Yoichi and Chita, making the shop just as comfortable to visit purely as a bar. Sipping a glass alongside a plate of chashu, scallion-topped menma, or daily snacks before rounding out the evening with hot ramen lends a memorable touch to a weekend dusk.
